Support Information:
The courses listed below are being recommended for approval, name changes, and sequence changes for inclusion in the 2021-2022 Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD) course catalog.
Request for new courses to be approved for the 2021-2022 school year:
- Ethnic Literature (new: brought forward by Branham High School) Offering this one-year Ethnic Literature course to 11th and 12th-grade students will allow students to continue developing analytical skills; reading, writing and speaking skills; and research methods through a critical analysis of a wide variety of historical and contemporary issues regarding race, ethnicity, and identity in the United States by utilizing fiction and non-fiction texts. This course fulfills one year of the 'b' requirement. Each course offered will cost approximately $2300.00 per section.
Request for courses to change names for the 2021-2022 school year:
- Accounting 1 and 2 will be changed to Business Accounting and Personal Finance 1 and 2
- Video Production 1-4 will be called Digital Filmmaking 1-4.
Changing the names of these courses will not only bring them up to date but will make them more aligned to the Career Technology Education (CTE) industry standards.
Request for course sequence change for the 2021-2022 school year:
Del Mar High School is requesting that World History, traditionally taught at the 10th-grade level, and American Government and Economics, traditionally taught at the 12th-grade level would switch places. The History-Social Science course sequence at Del Mar High School would be:
-10th Grade: American Government and Economics
-11th Grade: U.S. History
-12th Grade: World History
All requests followed the CUHSD course approval process and have been approved and recommended by the Curriculum Advisory Council. Attached supporting documents include: new courses request sheets, new course proposals, and slide decks.
